Here at ICYDOCK we thrive off the feed back that our customers give our products. We present to the current customer (and future one’s) a concept in the making. A “minimalist” external hard drive stand that accommodates any old hard drives that you might have lying around (IDE or SATA).It uses a screw-less mounting technique to keep the hard drives in place. What do you think? What price range do you the customer think would be reasonable for a product like this? Do you see a need for a cost effective solution of this type? Single-bay Internal enclosure compatible with MB559 Series

A very important question has come up with-in these couple of weeks that need to be addressed. It has been the case that some inquiring minds have asked about a single-bay internal enclosure compatible with the current 559 series. Here at ICYDOCK we ask ourselves,” why would anybody need an internal single bay solution that is interchangeable with the 559 series?” In comparing an internal and external single-bay solution it becomes abundantly clear that the eSATA transfer speed and internal SATA speed are the same. Both also support hot-swap capability.

What do you think? What is your take on an internal single bay solution that is compatible with our external MB559 series? It is very important that we at ICYDOCK start up a dialogue with our customers. We design through discussion. When we design new products our efforts are anchored on the complete user experience, from when you see the item in its packaging all the way until the item is fully operational.

Mirror Finish or Pure Black Version for MB559?

The new ICY DOCK MB559 has two different versions. Mirror finish or pure black version.

Mirror Finish version has glassier looking and it has nice coiling on the enclosure. But you will get your finger prints on the enclosure.

Pure Black version it's just plain pure black without worrying about finger prints on the enclosure.

Both of two models made by black anodized aluminum

ICY DOCK would like to know which version of black the general consumer would prefer.

Pro or Con to have Build-in Power Adapter into Single/Four bay External Enclosure?

ICY DOCK is researching and thinking to have a Build-in Power Adapter into the External single-bay or four-bay Enclosure. Of course by having Power supply build-into the External single bay or four bay enclosure will make it much more heavier, but you will NOT need to carry the power adapter.

For the opposite argument, some people would prefer to have Power supply NOT build-in, by doing so it will make the external enclosure much lighter in weight and not as travel friendly.

What do you think about having a build-in Power adapter onto ICY DOCK External single bay/four bay Enclosures?

How big are the 2.5 IDE HDD Market?

ICY DOCK is ready to launch MB448UR that is perfect replacement for floppy drive and targeting 2.5 IDE HDD Market. The outlook of MB448UR looks similar to MB448AR (http://www.icydock.com/product/mb448ar.html)

In the beginning, my point of view on 2.5 HDD market was not great. Because most of 2.5 HDD are already build into laptop, but slowly I found out there is a lot of 2.5 HDD users such as doctors, lawyers and college students that need something that is portable, light weight and compact size.

Other then the Market that I mention above, who else you think needs a 2.5 HDD compact version of external enclosure with a internal housing that replace floppy drive?

ICY DOCK MB448UR is an internal device that replaces floppy drive, with a push of a bottom it will pop out a tray in which become a portable 2.5 HDD drive with USB 2.0 build-in interface connection.

What does the general consumer think about this new item that is ready to be launch by ICY DOCK?

Firewire 400 or Firewire 800

Right now we are in discussion on which FireWire interface we should use for the next ICY DOCK MAC enclosure.

Should ICY DOCK choose FireWire 400 (IEEE 1394a) or FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b)?

IC Y DOCK would like to know what does Mac user think about what would be the best interface for Mac and what is the Mac user working habit and preference on enclosure interface?
