MB994SP-4S review - posted by thinkcomputers.org
On the table today is a 2.5” drive rack by Icy Dock. The MB994SP-4S can hold four 2.5” drives, and fit all of them in a single 5.25” bay in your desktop or server. It can fit any 2.5” drive up to 15mm in height (yes, that includes Western Digital’s extremely popular 2.5” Velociraptor drives!) The chassis of the rack is 100% aluminum, which gives a solid feel and a clean look. It also has dual 40mm exhaust fans to keep the higher-RPM drives cool. Icy News:Document: Precise Map to Understand Consequences of Thai Flood on HDDs
The great map of showing where and what HDD components were affected in Thailand is pretty large. We could see all the other companies that were affected as well. The numbers indicate that there was a good reason for the dramatic increase in the HDD price. However, it seems that all is well as WD states that they are ready for full production. Icy News: Hitachi To Debut First Interoperable 12Gb/s SAS SSD Interface
The fact that HGST has developed and debut the world's first 12Gb/s SAS SSD is pretty amazing. As technology keeps pushing the limits of performance, it is necessary to match that with updates to interfaces. But as interfaces update, so must other devices related to that product. Is this a good or bad thing that technology moves faster than we can adapt to? Let us know! Also, check out the full link here.
